Is the endless-field effect real, or edited footage?

Real, and it's the whole reason the thing exists. The base and top plate are both mirrored, so light bounces between them and each lit tulip repeats into the distance. You'll see more depth in person than any video captures, because a camera flattens it.

How is it powered, and how long does it stay on?

The light unit sits hidden under the crystal bed with the wiring completely buried — you never see a cable inside the cube. Exact power source and runtime are listed in the specifications on this page. It's built to be left on all evening, every evening.

Will it look cheap with the room lights on?

No — and this is where most cubes fall apart. There's no printed backdrop and no visible plastic housing. In daylight you're looking at clear panels, a crystal bed, pale translucent stems and mirror-finish plates. It reads as a glass object, not a switched-off gadget.

How durable is it? I have a busy nightstand.
